China is now hit by Super Typhoon Yagi! In Hainan, winds of 234 km/h destroy cities and villages
This year’s super typhoon Capricorn Number 11 struck Wengtian, Wenchang City, Hainan Province at 16:20. The typhoon landed along the coast of the city, with wind speeds above level 17 (about 234 mph) at the time of landfall.
At present, heavy rainstorms have occurred in most parts of Hainan Island, and some cities and villages have experienced extremely heavy rain. The northern part of Hainan Island was accompanied by strong winds of 13 to 16 on the Richter scale, and green trees on the road were uprooted. Several cities and counties on Hainan Island experienced widespread power outages.
The Hainan Provincial Meteorological Department predicts that after landfall, “Capricorn” will pass through Haikou, Chengmai, Lingao and other cities and counties, and move to the Beibu Gulf in the early hours of the 7th.
