Hey everyone, this is DGSpitzer!
Today’s restored video is the outtake of Mei Lanfang.
This footage is about his performance in the US, 1930.
He is a legendary Peking Opera / Kunqu Opera master in China.
The original clip is from Moving Image Research Collections, University of South Carolina. It’s been many years since the footage was filmed, So that this one-minute clip is all we could find now. But within it, we still can catch a glimpse of the glamour of Mr. Mei Lanfang.
This time, following by the same restoration process of my last video, I used RIFE, Deep-Exemplar-based-Video-Colorization, and some other AI projects.
I also did some hand drawings to complete the recover. The audio was denoised, therefore it should sound more clear than the original. I also used a new open-source AI called GPEN to enhance faces. This project is developed by a Chinese team. It works better on Asian faces than previous AI enhancement projects.
Thanks to VIVY HAS A DREAM and Nancy for helping with the content of the video
Hope you like the video!
