私たち Open The Door Japan は、「日本への入国を待ち望んでいる留学生等の願い」を胸に、彼らがいち早く来 日できる様に活動している市民団体です。留学生等の入国緩和を求め、2022年1月にオンライン署名サイト Change.org(チェンジ・ドット・オーグ)にて「1日でも早く外国人留学生等の入国許可を!」 (https://www.change.org/yamato_academy) のキャンペーンを立ち上げました。

Open The Door Japanの呼び掛け人。“入国停止で家族と会えない”と対応見直しを求める署名提出の ニュースをきっかけに、留学生等も日本へ入国できず苦境にあることに気づく。入国緩和の時期が不透 明なことや、留学生等が入国禁止されている現状の水際対策に疑問を抱き、「1日でも早く外国人留学 生等の入国 許可を!」という署名キャンペーンを立ち上げる。

・Davide Rossi (ダビデ・ロッシ)起業家 39歳 *名前使用OK・顔出しOK 2021年4月日本が留学生に対して2回目の渡航制限を行った際、日本語学校グループとともに「コロナ 禍日本留学の扉を開く会」を設立。海外に取り残された留学生の支援を行う。日本国外に取り残された 留学生の状況を啓発するために、Educationisnottourism.comのサイトを立ち上げた。今回の会見で は、「日本の渡航禁止措置が留学生の生活にどのような影響を与えたか」について、3000人以上の学 生から寄せられたアンケートの回答を紹介。Twitter: @rossi_davide

・Nan Hsai Hwum (ナン・サイ・ホアン)24歳 *名前使用OK・顔出しOK 2019年にミャンマーのヤンゴンにあるYamato Academy 日本語学園の外国人留学制度を活用した介 護福祉士育成プランに申し込み、和歌山社会福祉士専門学校(介護福祉士科)に入学予定、そして2020 年3月に在留資格認定証明書(COE)がおりました。しかし日本は新型コロナウイルスの感 染拡大を防ぐため水際対策を実施して外国人の入国を禁止している為、未だに日本へ入国出来ずにい る。

・Giulia Luzzo(ジュリア・ルッツォ)27歳 *名前使用OK・顔出しOK イタリアのトリノ大学院生。7年間日本語と日本文学を勉強し、日伊翻訳に携わる。2020年4月から日本 に留学する予定だったが2年間入国が叶わず、現在は目的を変え、日本での就職のため入国を待って いる。Twitter: @Jucchan9

・Delia Visser(デリア フィサー ) 24歳 *名前使用OK・顔出しOK オランダ出身。日本で仕事を探すため、日本語学校への入学を決断。2021年3月に応募し、半年分の
学費を支払って同10月に入学したものの、日本に入国できず、現地の夜中1時にオンライン授業を受け る生活が数ヶ月続く。残り半年分の学費の支払いの際、オンラインでの勉強のためにしかお金を支払っ ていなかったことに気付き、日本を諦めて韓国で活動することを決心する。2月に韓国に移住する予定。

・Melek Ortabasi(メレク・オータバシ) 博士 日本文学研究者 51歳 *名前使用OK・顔出しOK 国際交流基金のフェローシップにより日本に滞在中。2021年10月以降、入国制限により三人の子 ども たちに再会できていない。12月8日、Change.org上で本署名活動と連動する「子どもを私から 引き離さ ないで!日本の外国人入国禁止措置の見直しを求めます」を立ち上げた。Twitter: @MOrtabasi

The “Press Conference on International Students and the Japan Travel Ban conference will be mostly in the Japanese language, but we will try to provide English translation as much as possible.

Call to ease entry for privately financed international students
Press conference for the submission of 33,000 signatures

We [Open The Door Japan] are an organization that works to support long-term new foreign entrants who are waiting to come to Japan. We seek to help them get here as quickly as possible while following the same measures required of re-entering Japanese residents to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In January 2022, Open The Door Japan launched an online petition on Change.org calling upon the Japanese government to ease the entry of foreign students: “Allow foreign students to enter Japan as soon as possible!” (chng.it/LQTTjDLvH9)

We are pleased to announce that we have received more than 33,000 signatures and will be holding a press conference on January 27th at 5 pm on Zoom.

At the press conference, we will discuss the experiences of international students and others who are unable to enter Japan; and our views on how to submit the request.

Co-chair of Open The Door Japan. In the wake of the news that the Japanese government has announced it will review the way it handles foreign students and workers who are unable to see their families due to the suspension of allowing new entries into Japan, we realized that foreign students and workers are also having trouble entering Japan and questioned the uncertain timeline on the easing of entry restrictions and the ban on foreign students and workers. In response to this, we launched a campaign entitled “Allow Foreign Students and Workers to Enter Japan as Soon as Possible!”

Davide Rossi
When Japan imposed its second travel restriction on international students in April 2021, Davide Rossi established the “Association to Open the Door to Study in Japan” with a group of Japanese language schools. In this press conference, I will share the answers to a questionnaire submitted by over 3,000 students on how Japan’s travel ban has affected the lives of international students.
