The search for the Makerere University Vice Chancellor has taken on a dramatic twist after six out of the seven candidates boycotted a public presentation in which they were expected to explain their vision for the university to the academic fraternity. The six candidates have petitioned the university’s search committee demanding that their fellow contestant – Professor Venansius Baryamureeba should immediately step down as acting vice chancellor. They say this would allow for a fair competition as part of the ongoing search for a substantive Vice Chancellor.
