第1空挺団 は、陸上自衛隊の団のひとつで、特殊作戦群が創設されるまでは陸上自衛隊唯一の空挺部隊であった。 第1空挺団は空中機動作戦、即ち航空自衛隊の輸送機 からの落下傘降下による空挺作戦 と、陸上自衛隊のヘリコプターを使ったヘリボーン作戦を展開する能力をもった空挺部隊である。また、各国軍の空挺部隊と同様、精鋭軽歩兵としての位置付けがなされている。
The 1st Airborne Brigade, also known as the Narashino Airborne Brigade, is stationed in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Camp Narashino in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture. Currently, they are attached to current homeland defense and international combat operations under the JGSDF’s Ground Component Command. The 1st Airborne Brigade serves as Japan’s elite paratrooper unit meant to counter against either guerrillas or enemy special forces units.
