Master filmmaker Sono Sion of “Tokyo Tribe” (2014) “Why Don’t You Play in Hell?” (2013) comes back to the big screen with another film full of laughs and love through the eyes of a virgin teenager who wishes to become a hero by saving the world with his suddenly acquired psychic power. Based on the comic “Minna! Esper Dayo!” by Kiminori Wakasugi of “Detroit Metal City,” the film is the adaptation of the TV series (also directed by Sono), which received 2013 Galaxy Honors for programs recommended. Shota Sometani, the winner of the Marcello Mastroianni Award at Venice International Film Festival for his performance with “Himizu” (2011), plays the geeky virgin psychic, who also starred in the TV series.
