地震発生当日の夜、新宿駅付近の様子を収録した映像。
午後8時半すぎ、上空(ヘリ)からの空撮は、甲州街道の大渋滞している様子を捉える。
目を転じると、西口バスターミナルも、人の行列であふれている様子がわかる。
一方、地上側のカメラも、駅構内や駅前付近にあふれた人々の姿を映し出す。
南口付近で小田急線の全線運休を告げる係員。階段や地べたに座り込む人、また人。
西口タクシー乗り場でも、異常に長い人の行列ができている。
同じく西口のバスターミナルは、どの行先の停留所も大混雑(午後10時半すぎ)
偶然、王子駅行きのバスが現れた。乗車口が開くと、行列に並んだ乗客たちが「われ先に」車内へと押しかける。
停留所付近は一瞬バニックになり、悲鳴や怒声すら聞こえてくる。見る間に、満員スシ詰め状態となったバス車内。
自由に身動きが取れない人たちを乗せたまま、バスは深夜の街へと出発していった。

It’s past 8:30 p.m., and the air footage from the helicopter captures the traffic jam on route Kōshū Kaidō. Close by, there are queues of people at the bus terminal of the west exit. On the other hand, the ground camera displays the crowd of people overflowing in and out of the station. A station staff announces the suspension of all Odakyu lines at the South exit. More and more people are beginning to sit on the ground and stairs. An extraordinary long queue has formed at the west exit taxi stand. The bus terminal is no different, and all bus stops to any destination are extremely crowded. (Past 10:30 p.m.) By chance, a bus heading to Oji station arrives. When the passenger door opens, those in line rush inside. The bus stop becomes chaotic for a moment, and even screams and shouts are heard. In a mere second, the inside of the bus is packed with people. Carrying those people who are unable to move at all, the bus heads out of the city, into the night.
